PRELIMINARY PLANS FOR THE CONTINUATION OF THE PROJECT

AUTUMN 2003

Student groups are formed in Finland and Hungary. Students study annual reports and closed accounts of the municipalities and establish the main fields of operation and their shares of the total budget. Municipal organisations and the respective systems of political leadership are also studied and simple diagrams are drawn thereof.

SPRING 2004

The groups visit the most important governing bodies and municipal facilities (e.g. municipal manager/secretary’s office, technical department, health centre, hospital, help centre for the elderly) in both municipalities (Ii and Dunaharazti). Information is exchanged through e-mail and the Internet.

AUTUMN 2004

A visit to Ii by the Hungarian group. It includes visits and information about municipal operations as well as interviews, newspaper articles and videos which the Hungarians could make use of in Dunaharaszti e.g. in presenting the Finnish way of dealing with these issues to the leaders in their own municipality. The visit will include excursions to local points of interest and historical sites.

SPRING 2005

A visit to Hungary by the Finnish group. Compiling the material gathered and producing a final report on the website of the school.
