22.5.2001 | top | Our plane from Oulunsalo to Helsinki took of at six o'clock so we had to leave from home about at 5 am. (I don't know did someone sleep at night...I had to do my packings so I wouldn't say I slept.) In Helsinki we waited our next plane about an hour. The flight from Helsinki to Budapest took couple of hours. Weather in Budapest was a little shock. If you wonder where the summer is when it isn't in Finland I can tell you it is in Hungary. Well, after all those "so good to see you again"-things we went to the student hostel and left our stuf there. Then we went to school and ate lunch there. After some speeches we ran away (well I think most of us did) to see the place, Dunaharasti, and spent the rest of the day as we wanted. 23.5.2001 | top | On Wednesday morning we went to Vienna. We were sightseeing few hours
in a bus and then we had for hours for walking around and watching the
city. At evening we arrived a camping place near to lake Balaton and ate bean soup with forcemeat. after eating we checked our little cottages and settled down. Then we spent time having fun with friends. 24.5.2001 | top | On Thursday we went to the beach. Some of us swam (Teijo, for example
he
still believes there are sharks in lake Balaton :) but most of us were
just enjoying the weather. After the lunch we left back to Dunaharasti.
On way back we visited a museum which was founded in an old mill. It was
quite interesting to hear about the roots of Hungarians. 25.5.2001 | top | Friday morning Hungarian students and Finnish students all went to see
Hungary's capital, Budapest. It was very lovely day and we all had fun.
We saw the Mathias church and the parliament house. After that we had
free time to do our shopping. Among other things I bought a little tablecloth
to my mother. There was only one very unfortunate accident when our video
camera broke but otherwise everything was great. So we walked in Budapest
that day. After we had came back to Dunaharasti we started to move our things to our houses. Everyone was for a while separated but I think all had their little groups. At least I saw my Finnish friends at the evening. I also went to see Budapest at night and it was fabulous. all those lights...I've heard that many other Finnish students went to see it too. 26.5.2001 | top | Saturday we all were whole day with our hosts and their families. My
day was perfect. We went to Budapest gain and I even get swimming in the
baths. Almost everybody was in Budapest that day. Me and the family I
was living with went to a little village to eat. We found a lovely small
restaurant and I must recommend Hungarian food to everyone. At the evening I saw almost everybody again. We went to a disco. It was very different than disco for our age in Finland is. We were celebrating one Hungarian boy's birthday. The night was interesting and fun and that's all I can tell you about that 27.5.2001 | top | I think I slept very long on the next day (Sunday) but when I finally
got up me and my host went to see few friends to the ice cream bar. I
heard that everyone had had a great time and no hurry to home. Some of
us went to swim in a real lake and water was very warm. It was hard to
think that in Finland we didn't even have leafs in the trees yet. I don't know what everybody ad done on that weekend but we all sure had
nice time. Sunday evening me and my friend went to see a Hungarian beach
party too. I think I will say about that just: very interesting. Next
night was the last one with "our families". 28.5.2001 | top | After the wild weekend we were very tired. We came together at the student
hostel. Everyone were feeling a bit blue because we knew that it was our
last day together. The week had been fantastic. After settling down back to the hostel we headed straight to Coca-Cola
factory. We were suppose to be there at ten am. At the factory we had
our own guide who told us about factory's history and how it was the biggest
in Europe. We saw all the machines which made the bottles and everything.
The guide was very good and clear. After an hour of touring we went back
to the student hostel to have lunch and we got ourselves ready for the
evening. Our plan for the evening was to spent it in one of the teacher's ranch. There were horses, ponies, dogs and a donkey. Sanna, Heidi, Kaisa and Sari rode horses and others played football. as the night went on we had a wonderful spicy diner and we sang to the Hungarians and they sang to us also. we took pictures and spent lovely time together. Then we went back to the hostel by bus and said good night to our friends. the rest of the night we packed our stuff and stayed up late. On the other hand the atmosphere was happy nut we missed Hungary already. 29.5.2001 | top | Some of us woke up early because of the excitement. There was still some
packing to do and we had a big problem where to put our numerous souvenirs.
We had breakfast at eight and the plane took of at ten. After a sad farewell
we slept nicely in the plane. The flight was good and we were in Finland
at 13.30. The weather was cold and our plain to Oulu took of at 14.40.
Four o'clock we were in Oulu. There our parents were waiting for us. we
were home again! | top |
